Name: Alexander Bruce Kirkpatrick
Age: 19, DOB 6th February 1985
Gender: Male
Height: 6’4”
Weight: 67 kg
Affiliation: No affiliation
Stats:
Strength: 15
Agility: 15
Toughness: 9
Intelligence: 6
Mind: 8
Charisma: 8
Luck: 13
Skills: Weapon - Rifles x2
Weapon - Pistols x2
Weapon - Martial Arts
Weapon -Blades
Talent - Nerves of Steel
Skill - Stealth x2
Talent - Leadership
Weapons: None at the moment
Personality/Hobbies: Airsofting, a sport like paintball but using proper replicas of modern-day guns and firing plastic balls instead of paint. Also airsofting games are characteristically longer and more involved than paintballing games, with more of a military feel. It is from doing this that Alex has gained his superb knowledge of weapons, tactics and stealth. Alex also practices martial arts on and off – he doesn’t have the patience to stick with a particular doctrine. Thus he has a vague knowledge of hand-to-hand fighting technique and swordsmanship. He is reasonably intelligent and a competent linguist (don’t know if that’ll come up in the story or not, who knows) with a thorough understanding of French, German and Latin, and a basic knowledge of Italian and Japanese. Listens to a variety of rock styles, but ultimately prefers ska punk. Alex is a strong-minded, sometimes arrogant guy. He hates consumer culture (things like people trying to ‘enhance his shopping experience’) and has developed a deep distrust for corporations (he sees the marketing of their products as a direct attempt at hypnotisation – every day he sees people blindly buying things they don’t need) however it’s not something he has ever acted on or would ever act on. Since he loves guns and that is seen by many as an inappropriate and even childish infatuation, he is prepared to keep an open mind about other people’s pursuits. Many people see him as cold because he professes, when asked, that he would have no qualms over killing someone and has no fear of death. However, he is not as emotionless as they think – it’s just that he gives a lot of thought to mortality and so he already has the answer to such questions of life and death. People think him cold because he answers quickly and surely where they might have expected him to take his time or be unsure of himself. The military teacher Sun Tzu said in ‘The Art of War’ – ‘Know your enemy and know yourself.’, and Alex always makes sure he knows his own mind.
But all that makes him sound kinda serious – he isn’t really. When amongst other people he jokes and laughs, and lately ‘wouldn’t it be funny if (insert disaster here)… well I’d laugh’ has become for him a catchphrase of sorts.
Appearance: Build: Very thin, wiry, uncommonly well-muscled for a skinny guy
Hair: Light Brown, normally worn parted down the centre (it’s all he can do with it – it’s horrendously thick and unmanageable).
Eyes: Dark blue-grey
Clothing: Alex will mostly be wearing jeans and T-shirt, with heavy black boots and black trench coat, depending on the situation. He usually wears thin black glasses and a steely wristwatch.
History: Alex has two brothers and two sisters, all younger than him. Finn is 9, Louis is 11, India is 13 and Lilla is 16. Alex gets on with all of them pretty well, except for India. Alex was born and raised in the south of England and retains his English accent. He is half-English half-Scottish, and is fiercely proud of the Kirkpatrick family heritage. Kirkpatrick is part of the Scots clan Colquhoun (pronounced kahoon), and Alex has the family crest (a raised hand holding a bleeding heart on a dagger) and the family motto (‘I Make Sure’) tattooed on his right arm. Alex was born and brought up in England, first in Windsor, then further South, in a tiny village called Ashley Heath, in Hampshire. It was there that he started Airsofting, as a new site opened in the forest near where he lived. He and a couple of friends got a team together. Alex was sixteen at the time, and working furiously to earn the money necessary to pay for weapons. By the time his family were planning to move, a year and a half later, Alex owned a FA-MAS 5.56 F1, a H&K mk23 Socom pistol with Light Attachment Module and Silencer, two M92Fs, two Luger P-08s, a H&K MP5 RAS with red dot sight, a rather crappy M16 A2, and a couple of single-action springers including a CZ vz61 Skorpion. He could also say quite rightly that he was pretty damned stealthy and a good shot, and was always the one to take point during missions. He felt the role suited him well.
Though Alex was tempted to stay and finish his A-Level studies in England, amongst friends, the draw of living on such a remote island as Alea was too much and he agreed to move with the rest of his family. His father, an engineer of air conditioning, had received a sizeable sum of money after re-designing the air circulation and cooling systems for the British atomic weapons testing facility, Aldermaston, and it was thus that the family had enough cash to make such a move.
Alex finished his AS exams, the first half of his A-levels, right before the move, and had the results mailed to the new address on Alea. He came out with grades A, D, D, and E, leaving his future uncertain. At present he remains unsure of what to do, the only option that would suit him seeming to be enrolment in the APF.
Sometime before the move to Alea, he couldn’t remember when exactly if he tried, Alex became a huge fan of low budget zombie movies, but every time he saw a new one he ended up shouting at the screen – ‘Don’t spray ‘em for Christ’s sake! One bullet each, in the head!’ – after all that is the universal rule of zombie movies (that and the fact that there’s gotta be some weird and totally out-of-place soft-core porn worked in somewhere).
Currently Alex works weekends as a shelf-stacker in the nearest supermarket to their house, and during the week carries on his studies, trying to teach himself Latin, German and English Literature to as high a standard as possible but ultimately failing.
